The habour
Køge Havn is the eighth largest harbour in Denmark, measured by volume of goods. The harbour covers 35 hectares and features more than 2,000 metres of quays.
Køge Havn (Harbour) has been modernised in recent years, and now
features ultra-modern facilities. Over the coming years, the
harbour will be doubled in size - with 40 hectares for commercial
purposes and 1,200 metres of new quays. This project will be
carried out in stages over 8-12 years.
The large new commercial harbour makes possible the development of
the central harbour area in Køge. It means that the businesses
currently based in Søndre Havn will have the opportunity to move to
new, better, future-guaranteed facilities, and that the industrial
parts of Søndre Havn can therefore be converted into an urban area
of residences, cultural attractions, green spaces, etc.
